Florida Man Memes

Hi everybody! This week, we'll be taking a slightly more funny turn and talking about social media and memes. While digital news can cause problematic misinformation, there are always news headlines that seem to grab your attention no matter how you think about them. Some seem too good to be true, some seem inexplicably sad, and some (most) are just downright absurd. Today in creative writing class, we went down a loophole of silly news articles that somehow led to the Florida man memes. Now, if you don't know what this is, don't worry. In the words of the wise Urban Dictionary online, a Florida man meme is: "A keyword used a lot to describe all the weird news stories about random Floridians committing weird and dumb crimes, due to the state law regarding freedom of press about the fact that every police or court case must be public. " dot dot dot. You get the point. Trust me, you won't believe your eyes! Below, I've listed four of my favorite [real] headlines that real people committed. Some have background information, but mostly there are only headlines. Anyway, I truly hope these memes bring you as much joy as they brought me.

There are numerous others and many more possibly more ridiculous stories. However, I would caution you to question more disbelievable articles that seem completely untrue. Well, I guess in Florida anything can happen, so...
