The blue-dotted umbrella

Spoke before I could, chanting 

Use me

Before the rain gets you. 

You beat both of them to it, knocking on my door

Like the world fell at your feet

That peephole 

Concave, made you seem so small, so minute. 

I never knew that your eyes were those peepholes, 

Staring back at me.

Home,

the pastel pastry flaking on my desk,

sun that shines through the crack in the door,

now has a red sign

Burrowed into the grass

Its meaning clear but the truth untold.
